I think freshman/senior relationships are destined for failure. The senior guy has the freshman girl's best interest in mind. He's not just looking for an easy freshman girl to have sex with. I would hate for my son to be labeled a pedophile over something like that.
It's inevitable for them to end when the senior goes to college. Once a boy reaches 17 or 18 (depending on the state) he is a target of all sorts of crazy accusations.
I may be a long time out of high school, but I remember how it was. Please register to post and access all features of our very popular forum. Because of the long distance and the fact that college offers new experiences and a new lifestyle..just lots of changes and stresses on a relationship that's probably relatively new. This might come as a surprise to some posters, but you CAN have a relationship without sex. When I was a senior, there were sophomores at my school born in September 1992. But there were people only 1 grade above me that were born in September 1989. If you just go by what grade someone is in, that can be misleading. And I thought you didn't like when people brought up other threads in a totally unrelated thread? You think a senior dating a sophomore is inappropriate? I am closer in age to some people 2 grades below me than I am to some people 1 grade above me. The more important part is their age, because age varies in each grade...people are born at different times of year. The lack of responses leads me to believe people don't fully understand the question. You can have 2 people in the same grade that are almost a year apart in age. What you're essentially saying is it's inappropriate for someone to date someone a year and 2 months younger.Because that was the age gap between me and the older sophomores when I was a senior. The thing that concerns me as a parent is that parents of girls (and the girls themselve) can accuse the older boyfriend of all sorts of things (short of sex) that can cause a teen to be charged with a sex crime.
