The Midsummer's Festival boasted something new this year.
The Anatoly Karpov Chess School sponsored a 20 board chess simultaneous held at Riverside Park.
Karpov Chess School Director David Blair played a 70 game "Simul." The Simul featured Blair moving from board to board, playing several players in one seating.
Local players comprised the majority of Blair's opponents; however, others joined in later in the day.
Two competitors, Quade Leonard and Paul Masterson, each, won a game.
Blair offered several "valiant effort" draws (tie game) throughout the day to players who were losing their games, but played very well.
